The Interdisciplinary Centre for Ecosystem Services and Biodiversity (I.C.E.B.) is a newly established research center at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS), dedicated to advancing the understanding of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Our mission is to measure and analyze the interactions between society and ecosystems through interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research. By providing evidence-based insights, we support decisions that foster
sustainable development.
Junior Researcher - Capacity Building Officer (m/f/d)
As a Capacity Building Officer at the Interdisciplinary Center for Ecosystem Services and Biodiversity (I.C.E.B.), you will play a vital role in ensuring that biodiversity research has a meaningful societal impact, contributing to the center's mission: "Making Biodiversity Matter." Your responsibilities will include supporting the development and implementation of diverse educational programs, such as the Certificate Course in Nature Conservation Engineering and the Master’s Program in Management of Conservation Areas, as well as designing new formats tailored to various audiences (e.g. Micro-Credentials, Summer schools, Citizen Science format, etc.)
Your Tasks as a Capacity Building Officer:

Development and Enhancement of Educational Formats: Collaborate with target groups and our researchers to design and improve educational programs.

Communication and Outreach: Promote these educational opportunities to target audiences and conduct public relations activities for the offered programs.

Translation of Research Findings: Continuously translate research results into existing and new teaching formats.
Required competencies and qualifications
A solid pedagogical or subject-specific educational background, recognizing education and training as key drivers for a
sustainable society.
- A master’s degree in a relevant field, such as pedagogical or subject didactics (e.g., biology, geography, agriculture, or forestry); alternatively, a degree in natural sciences (e.g., landscape planning or similar) with demonstrated didactic or pedagogical expertise, eventually marketing and communication.
- Experience in developing and implementing diverse didactic formats; experience in curriculum development is desirable.
- Proficiency and experience in handling social media, particularly in designing campaigns and communication
formats, are absolutely essential; This also includes the development and implementation of online learning
experiences and formats (webinars, MOOCs, etc.). - Good IT skills and excellent proficiency in both English and German.
- Highly team-oriented with a precise, reliable work ethic and the ability to translate scientific insights into
meaningful learning experiences.
