“Analog / RF Integrated Circuits Design”
The
Carinthia Institute for Microelectronics (CIME) is a competence centre for research and development of integrated electronic systems at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS).
Research into integrated electronic circuits and systems is a well-established discipline at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. We have been active in cooperative research funded by industry and national / European projects for more than 20 years. Our mission is to develop innovative integrated circuits and systems for RF wireless communication, high-speed chiplet data transceivers and integrated sensor frontends. Furthermore, we are researching new concepts for analog circuit and layout generators. We collaborate closely with partners from academia and industry in these fields for our research.
Responsibilities:

Concept development, design and verification of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits and systems, in-cluding research in CIME’s focus areas, such as
- Analog frontends and communication links for integrated sensors
- RF integrated circuits for communication and sensing applications
- High-speed serial data transceivers for chiplet data communication
- Photonic integrated circuits for LiDAR applications
- Lab characterization of prototype testchips
- Acquisition and lead of research projects in the field
- Research dissemination through scientific publications
- Teaching of advanced circuit design topics in MSc study program and supervision of MSc and PhD students
- Collaboration within the research centre CIME in the research focus areas.
- Networking with industry and research partners
Your Profile
- Doctoral Degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional / research experience
- Experience and/or interest in at least one of the following fields:
- ADC / DAC design for sensing applications or high-speed communications
- Design of PLLs and/or frequency synthesizers
- Design of RF building blocks (LNA, PA, VCO, mixer,…) in CMOS technologies
- Mixed-signal circuit design (digital assisted analog circuits)
- Solid experience in Analog / Digital CAD tools from Cadence, Siemens EDA and Synopsys
- Circuit design with IC technologies such as CMOS (65nm, 28nm or 16nm) or HBT BiCMOS
- Solid experience in full-custom analog layout
- Good academic track record
- Excellent command of English (minimum B2 level, w/s); Basic command of (or willingness to learn) German
- High motivation, independent and structured working style, with strong teamwork and communication skills

- Start: March 2026
- Scope of employment: 40 hours per week
- Limited term: initially limited to 1 year (will become unlimited after a review)

- Minimum salary: EUR 3.900,16€ gross monthly salary (14 salaries a year, salary is negotiable depending on qualifications and professional experience). According to Austrian law, we are obliged to state the minimum salary.
