Junior Researcher in Computer Science (f/m/d)
Are you passionate about the future of digital production and sustainable supply chains? We are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated junior researcher, with potential for a PhD thesis, to join our interdisciplinary research team at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences as soon as possible.
You are based in Villach at the university’s campus and will support ongoing research projects at our research group with a particular focus on horizontal and vertical supply chain integration for circular economy based on Dataspace technol-ogies.
Responsibilities:
As part of your research, you will contribute to a cutting-edge research project exploring how digital technologies can reshape industrial value chains focusing on
- Integrating additive manufacturing (e.g., 3D printing) and associated post-processing steps into supply chains
- Designing and analyzing reverse logistics systems that support circular economy principles
- Developing AI-based methods and tools to support design and decision-making, taking into account the capa-bilities and constraints of additive manufacturing processes, post-processing steps, or reverse logistics
- Modeling and optimizing digitally supported value chains from both a technical and systemic perspective
- Publishing your findings in leading journals and presenting at international conferences
Your Profile
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field
- Strong interest in topics such as digital manufacturing, logistics, circular economy, or AI-based innovation and design support
- Experience or interest in areas such as knowledge-based systems, optimization, or decision support systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Fluency in English (C1 level)
- Strong team spirit, intercultural competence, and high integrity in scientific work
