Senior Research Engineer – Nitride Thin-Film Materials (Wide Band Gap) (all genders)
- Development of thin films for piezoelectric and wide-band-gap applications.
- Design and execute experiments to optimize nitride thin film materials, guided by device specifications and performance feedback.
- Structural and functional (e.g. dielectric, electrical, ferroelectric) characterization of the deposited thin films.
- Collaboration with design, fabrication, characterization, and process engineer teams to optimize full process flow and device performance.
- Definition of strategies for material optimization and pursuing scientifically relevant investigations.
- Development of strategies to address novel material properties and novel fields of application.
- Contributing to the standardization of procedures and workflows within the Unit.
- Filing IP disclosures whenever possible and appropriate.
- Contribution to scientific dissemination (publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, presentations at conferences).
- Contribution to Unit workflows, project acquisition and project management.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct applied research in humanoid robotics, with a focus on kinematics, dynamics, full-body control, balance, motion planning, and industrial task execution
- Support commissioning, calibration, and testing of humanoid robot platforms, including actuators, sensors, SDK interfaces, safety functions, and operational procedures
- Develop and maintain ROS 2-based software modules for robot state handling, motion commands, sensor interfaces, simulation, data logging, and task execution
- Implement and evaluate classical robot-control methods such as inverse kinematics, inverse dynamics, impedance/admittance control, feedback control, model predictive control, and torque-level control
- Support whole-body motion generation for humanoid manipulation tasks such as reaching, grasping, button pressing, pick-and-place, object handover, inspection, and simple machine-operation tasks
- Assist in translating research outcomes into teaching activities and course content
- Co-supervise bachelor’s theses related to ongoing research projects
- Support proposal preparation for public research funding and cooperation with industry partners
- Actively represent the research group in scientific networks and at conferences
