Junior Researcher (m/f/d)
in the field of “analog IC design automation”
The Carinthia Institute for Microelectronics (CIME) is a competence center for research and development of integrated electronic systems. CIME is strongly associated to the department of Integrated Systems and Circuits Design (ISCD) with a close network to other departments within the faculty of Engineering & IT at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS).
The research on integrated electronic circuits and systems is a well-established discipline at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. For more than 20 years researchers have been working on cooperative research funded by industry and national / European projects in the field of wireless and wireline communications as well as integrated sensor frontends.
Our aim in the Josef Ressel Centre for System-on-Chip Design Automation is to research fundamentally new methods for the development of “system-on-chip’s” in modern semiconductor technologies and to advance the automation of the development process of integrated circuits.
We are closely collaborating with partners from academia as well as industry in these fields.
Job responsibilities
- Junior Researcher Position to work on the field of analog IC design automation.
- PhD study can be pursued in conjunction with an external university.
- Drive semi-formal definition of an automated design of analog building blocks.
- Design of schematic and layout generators.
- Capture the process of concept and design including sizing of modern circuit structures.
- Verification of results and comparison of automated versus standard flow designs.
- Lab characterization of test vehicles fabricated in modern CMOS technology nodes with automated design.
- Supervision of master students.
- Collaboration with industry partners.
- Internal project documentation.
- Publication of the results at conferences, workshops and in scientific journals.
Job profile
- Analog/Digital IC design flow (CDS, Siemens EDA, Synopsys EDA) on UNIX systems.
- Python (including IDEs like Spyder, Pycharm, Jupyter).
- Strong competences in scripting languages and software design.
- Proficiency on use of Skill commands and TCL/TK.
- Design of microelectronic circuits and systems.
- Experience in physical implementation using modern technologies.
- Team player, self-organized and open minded.

Scope of employment: full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time (min. 30 hours per week)
Limited term: initially for two years
Start: immediately

Salary: According to Austrian law, we are obliged to state the minimum salary. This is EUR 2,695.60 gross per month for this position (minimum salary for full-time employment, 14 salaries). The willingness to overpay depending on qualifications and professional experience is given.
