- Act as a quality interface between product development and release program (PDR) and the quality install base team.
- Prevent quality escapes upfront in the early product development stage, by using adequate quality methods and by driving lessons learned form the Install base quality into the development programs.
- Actively monitor and analyse quality performance of alpha and beta stage products and resolve quality issues via systematic root cause and corrective actions prior the release of the products to high volume manufacturing (HVM).
- Bridge quality performance to financial impact (Cost of Quality) and the quality development activities.
- Act as a quality mentor for quality case owners (QCOs)

- Is the lead engineer of a development program (product), making sure that mechanical and electrical hardware and the tool software work together to meet the system specification
- Owns developing the system specification based on the product specification and configuration options
- Is accountable for resolving design tradeoffs/conflicts to ensure the design is integrated, such that the overall product performs as described in the system specification
- Assures that the system meets engineering- and compliance standards, especially in the concept and detailed design phases
- Owns BOM (bill of material) setup and execution of the documentation release plan
- Prepares all required program/product related Engineering deliverables (e.g. FMEA, technical specifications, risk analyses)
- Technical responsible that all interfaces for the entire product are well defined and working
- Participates in the cost allocation model and assures that designs meet the cost targets
- Owns developing the reliability allocation model, the reliability design approach and test plans
